Snowdrops - Learn Wet on Wet Wash With Masking For Beginners
Masking Shapes and Loose Washes of Color Create A Glowing Painting
Afraid of wet on wet?
Beginner Level Lesson - Uses Liquid Masking
With Snowdrops, you'll learn easy techniques for wet on wet washes that give you control of your colors. You'll learn how to apply color, mix color on the paper, move it around and change your mind without ruining your painting.
Wet on wet works best when you can apply it quickly and tilt the paper, so painting around tiny flowers won't work. This lesson uses liquid masking, painted on with an old brush, to save the flower area while you apply the wash.
The white of the flowers and dark value at the bottom will make any background color look beautiful, whether it's dark and dramatic or light and lovely.
Your Instructor
Hi, I'm Deb Watson.
My story is simple. I loved creating art from childhood, but was discouraged from pursuing art by my parents. So, I became a nurse, but kept painting.
I knew nothing about art, but taught myself over time and became a very successful artist, with hundreds of awards. Although my art and how to paint techniques are well known (in over a dozen books and online), I'm just a down to earth person.
I've always enjoyed teaching others how to paint with watercolor - sharing the joy!
Join me in your own personal journey into painting. My online lessons and zoom classes will teach you how to see and paint like an artist. No matter what your favorite subject is, you'll find it here - or email me your suggestions and I'll include a class in the future.
Happy Painting.
