Try A Traditional Subject For Success
This lesson is for beginner to intermediate students - easy wet on wet practice.
Koi have long been used for beautiful paintings. It begins with striking orange and black then those beautiful blues to create wet on wet water. Add some 'rocks' with negative painting for an easy Asian look that doesn't distract from your center of interest fish.
Guided practice is excellent practice!
- Painting the lily pads teaches letting the color mix on the paper for a unique and natural look.
- Koi are done wet on damp for rich, glowing colors.
- Also included are lifting, and how to soften edges to make your koi seem underwater.
Once you have the basics down, you can use these skills for many paintings to come. Included is my pintrest page link with lots of other koi paintings to give you ideas.
Your Instructor
Hi, I'm Deb Watson.
My story is simple. I loved creating art from childhood, but was discouraged from pursuing art by my parents. So, I became a nurse, but kept painting.
I knew nothing about art, but taught myself over time and became a very successful artist, with hundreds of awards. Although my art and how to paint techniques are well known (in over a dozen books and online), I'm just a down to earth person.
I've always enjoyed teaching others how to paint with watercolor - sharing the joy!
Join me in your own personal journey into painting. My online lessons and zoom classes will teach you how to see and paint like an artist. No matter what your favorite subject is, you'll find it here - or email me your suggestions and I'll include a class in the future.
Happy Painting.
